What should I wear and bring with me?
Swimwear – mandatory in the sauna.
Two towels (one to sit on in the sauna and one for drying yourself at the end).
Flip flops or other easy-to-put-on footwear to move outside to cool down.
A bottle of water (not metal or glass if you intend to bring it into the sauna) to rehydrate.
During winter, we recommend that you bring warm loose clothes for changing back into after the session.
How long do I stay in the sauna?
Those new to sauna might stay in the sauna for 5 to 10 minutes before cooling down.
Experienced sauna goers might want to stay in the heat for up to 20 minutes before cooling down.
We don’t recommend longer than this before cooling down. Please take personal responsibility of how you are feeling.
What should I expect?
This is a rustic sauna, set in beautiful locations. The sauna travels around parts of Anglesey and Gwynedd, so make sure of which location you have booked!
Access to cold water – sometimes this is via a wild swimming spot, sometimes from a bucket with water to pour over yourself or from stepping into a plunge pool.
Because we change locations, we cannot always guarantee a changing space or toilets so – come ready to sauna if you can. Some people change in their car.
For more information on our on-site facilities, please see our locations page
Can I put water on the sauna rocks?
Yes – please only use the water provided by Cedar Hut in the bucket. This releases gorgeous steam. If you do this, bear in mind that after the initial burst of steam, the stove will cool.
Be careful when adding water – steam burns – use the long handled ladle and keep well away from the extremely hot rocks and stove. Always pour starting from the back and pouring forward. This way your hand and arm are not directly above the steam.
It’s polite to ask other users if they’d like more water to be ladled onto the stove – usually the intense steam this creates is desired by everyone, but it does make you feel hotter.
How often is the sauna cleaned?
Because of the high temperatures and good ventilation, saunas are actually a very hygienic place. The sauna operates at high temperatures of 60-100°C, which are too high for germs to survive in.
The sauna will be wiped down between sessions and this is done thoroughly and quickly, taking a few minutes between sessions.
We kindly ask all our customers to sit on towels during the session so that no sweat reaches the wood surface
Deep cleaning and sauna maintenance is carried out regularly.
Where can I park?
There is parking near to each of sauna location, with directions available on the locations section of the website, where a pin drop on google maps is provided. Sometimes parking is limited, so please car share if you can. Please park considerately and do not block access for any other users of the car park/location.
Is alcohol allowed?
Alcohol is not permitted in or around the sauna and we reserve the right to refuse admission to persons who are intoxicated.
